Give it a rest Sir Alf. I'll be cheering from my armchair because I think that is not too bad a reserve midfield.

A midfield "axis" of Noble, Fernandes and Ayew. Physically imposing, non-stop, lightening fast. Oh dear Mr Bilic has dropped another bollock in that team selection. Lets hope the post and bar have MOTM performances.

It’s all so predictable. Better performance tonight but we lose. 0-0 bore draw against palace and that’s enough for the Dave’s to justify keeping Bilic. We are literally going to have to be relegated before they act.

Deckchairs on the Titanic from Capt'n Bilic !
We will do better with a back 3 and always have under him since Payet magic started wearing off in March 2016. Lets hope that lesson has been learnt once and for all. We won a game in the 90th minute against a poor Swansea side ( who outplayed us mind ) and he convinced himself again that 4 at the back works in a team with little intensity and low work rate. We got a draw at Burnley with 10 and further backed up his preconceived view that we can play with 4 at the back. His preconceived view is driven by the need to fit in all his purchases.
The purchases were made without a tactical plan or footballing philosophy in mind. Like buying parts for a Ferrari, Aston Martin and Bugatti and fitting them together and with other parts from Ford, Vauxhall and Seat then expecting to have a car that can compete against Red Bull or Mercedes in Formula 1. He forgot the high performance engine and the need to service said car. Apologies for the poor analogy but that is the only way I can describe the half baked thinking and transfer strategy.
We have too many players in our team who are not told to track, work hard and run their nuts off to get the ball back once we lose possession and not make the runs and provide the movement when we do have it. They probably do not even know exactly what they are supposed to be doing. Add to this the inability of many of the team to pass accurately and a manager that thinks we can outplay teams despite all this. Its no wonder we have conceded 105, 110 goals in less than 60 games. Its appalling.
Of course, the backdrop is an ego maniac owner / DOF who is overcompensating for being called a short arse and beingbullied at school.
We are fooked.

I suppose if you have the three at the back, and then wing-backs, Carroll up front, and then operate a midfield diamond behind that, you could call it a 5-4-1 diamond. Noble at the base, Fernandes and Lanzini either side, Ayew at the tip? Not sure I've ever seen that actually play out in a match. It is incredibly narrow. I also don't really see the point of considering it a diamond - why not just say it's a three in midfield with Ayew playing off the striker?
But I can imagine players in the team meeting being told 'right we're playing in a 5-4-1 diamond' and kind of looking at each other puzzled. Oh right... okay... it's a what again?

Radio commentators (talksport.....yeah yeah, I know) are saying they expect us to put a strong team out tonight.
The team that ex has put up is neither one thing or the other, I see no point in playing Carrol. Too predictable, spurs will know exactly how to set up against us.

I've no idea what a 5-4-1 diamond is. But those players can fit the 3-4-3 we've seen before.

I think if it's the 3-4-3 being listed on twitter it seems quite a good selection imo, and arguably stronger than the first choice selection we've been using in league matches.
Let's face it, major changes need to be made in response to the last match. Hope they are.
